BorgWarner has secured two major supply contracts to deliver turbocharging systems for a leading global vehicle manufacturer’s upcoming compact and light commercial models in Europe and North America. In Europe, BorgWarner will provide its established wastegate turbochargers for 1.0-liter gasoline engines used in the automaker’s next-generation combustion and hybrid vehicles.

Mass production is planned to begin in August 2027. In a separate contract, the company has also been selected to supply high-performance turbochargers for a 3.0-liter gasoline hybrid powertrain in North America, with production scheduled to commence in September 2028.

“These contract wins reflect our strength in delivering dependable and cost-efficient technologies, particularly as other suppliers withdraw from internal combustion programs,” said Dr Volker Weng, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc and President and General Manager of the company’s Turbos and Thermal division. “They align with our long-term focus on supporting global manufacturers with advanced combustion solutions.”

The company’s wastegate turbochargers are designed specifically for small gasoline engines, offering a reliable and straightforward method for controlling boost pressure. This ensures consistent engine output and improved fuel efficiency without the complexity of more advanced systems.

Known for their durability and competitive pricing, these turbochargers are also backed by long-term availability—an increasingly important factor in today’s consolidating automotive supply chain. The systems will be manufactured at BorgWarner’s facilities in Rzeszów, Poland, and Ramos, Mexico, reinforcing the company’s strategy of producing close to key customer locations.

With a legacy spanning over 130 years, BorgWarner continues to lead the development of advanced mobility technologies. The company is committed to delivering sustainable solutions that contribute to a cleaner, safer, and more efficient future.
