Cisco Joins Sisvel’s Wi-Fi 6 Patent Pool, Secures Access to Key Wireless Technologies

Cisco Systems, Inc has officially become a licensee of Sisvel’s Wi-Fi 6 patent pool, gaining streamlined access to nearly 2,000 patents deemed essential to the 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) standard. The agreement was finalized through a cooperative negotiation process and reflects Cisco’s commitment to compliant and efficient adoption of advanced wireless technologies.

The Sisvel Wi-Fi 6 pool, launched in July 2022, aggregates patents across 245 families that have undergone independent evaluation for relevance to the Wi-Fi 6 standard. Cisco’s decision to participate provides the company with a simplified path to licensing critical IP that supports next-generation wireless connectivity, aligning with its leadership in enterprise networking and AI-driven infrastructure.

Sisvel has reported increasing momentum for the Wi-Fi 6 licensing program, with over 20 additional companies joining since the fourth quarter of 2023.
