L&T Energy GreenTech Ltd (LTEG), a fully owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), is set to build India’s largest green hydrogen plant at the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd’s (IOCL) Panipat Refinery in Haryana. The facility, developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) model, will produce 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually for IOCL over a 25-year period. This project aligns with the Government of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to support the country’s shift towards clean energy.

The plant will operate 24/7, powered entirely by renewable energy, and will help IOCL reduce its carbon footprint as part of its broader strategy to decarbonize its refining processes. Green hydrogen will be produced using high-pressure alkaline electrolysers, which will be manufactured at L&T Electrolysers Ltd’s advanced facility in Hazira, Gujarat.

This initiative marks a major step forward in India’s energy transition and strengthens L&T Energy GreenTech’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions. As a part of the USD 30 billion L&T conglomerate, LTEG focuses on green hydrogen, its derivatives, and electrolyser production. The company offers integrated solutions across the green energy sector, combining advanced technology, strategic alliances, and ongoing research and development efforts.
