Reliance Retail has acquired Kelvinator, a well-known consumer durables brand, as part of its strategy to scale up in India’s fast-growing premium home appliance segment. Though financial details of the transaction were not revealed, the company said the move would significantly enhance its standing in the consumer durables sector.
“The acquisition of Kelvinator is a key milestone, allowing us to offer a wider range of trusted global appliances to Indian households,” said Isha M Ambani, Executive Director at Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. “This is backed by our broad distribution reach, service capabilities, and operational scale.”
Reliance said the deal will help combine Kelvinator’s heritage of innovation with the group’s extensive retail network, creating greater value for consumers and accelerating category growth. Kelvinator, which pioneered electric refrigeration globally, became a household name in India in the 1970s and 1980s with the popular slogan “The Coolest One.”
The brand continues to be recognized for reliable performance, durable quality, and strong value. Reliance Retail noted that bringing Kelvinator into its ecosystem would help expand access to high-quality appliances across Indian homes while unlocking long-term growth opportunities in the dynamic consumer goods market.
