Bühler India has announced the successful development, delivery, and commissioning of its new Compact Coating System (CCS), designed specifically for anti-reflective (AR) coatings on ophthalmic lenses. This innovation marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to local innovation, quality manufacturing, and deep-rooted partnerships within the Indian ophthalmic industry.
The first successful result of this initiative is the CCS 250 LC III – an ophthalmic coating machine engineered for compactness, performance, and high-quality output. Developed and manufactured entirely in India, the system offers high-standard HMC/ARC coatings, significantly reduced cycle times, and enhanced operational efficiency. It incorporates state-of-the-art technology, ensuring that Indian manufacturers can meet global quality benchmarks while improving productivity.
With its manufacturing now based at Bühler’s Bangalore facility, the CCS series represents not only a leap in local technological capabilities but also a meaningful contribution to India’s self-reliance in precision optical equipment. The project underscores Bühler’s continued focus on innovation, localization, and long-term partnership with India’s ophthalmic lens industry. This achievement reaffirms Bühler’s commitment to empowering Indian businesses with world-class solutions made in India, for India—strengthening both domestic production and global competitiveness.
For over four decades, Bühler has been a trusted partner to India’s optical coating sector, consistently delivering advanced solutions and services that support the evolving needs of lens manufacturers. Driven by its long-standing vision to serve customers more effectively and sustainably, Bühler India launched a focused initiative to design and produce coating machines tailored for the unique demands of the Indian market.
Bühler India, established in Bengaluru in 1993 and operating under the Swiss Bühler Group, is a major hub for food and grain processing innovation in South Asia.
