Arasan Chip Systems, a long-established provider of semiconductor interface IP for mobile and automotive system-on-chips (SoCs), has announced the immediate availability of its full-featured IP suite for Embedded USB 2.0 (eUSB2). This includes both the eUSB2 Controller and the corresponding PHY IP. Developed specifically for SoCs operating at a low interface voltage of 1.2V, Arasan’s latest offering is designed to meet the needs of next-generation mobile devices and embedded applications.
As an early innovator in USB IP—dating back to its first product release in 1996 with USB 1.0—Arasan brings decades of expertise to this update. The new eUSB2 IP supports high-speed, full-speed, and low-speed USB operation, while also fulfilling USB 2.0 L1 and L2 link power management features. Importantly, it maintains full compatibility with the existing USB 2.0 software model, requiring no software changes. The interface continues to use the familiar eD+ and eD− signal lines, matching the D+ and D− of standard USB2, while Vbus and power delivery protocols remain unaffected.
Ideal for smartphones, tablets, laptops, and a wide range of embedded electronics—including automotive, industrial, enterprise, and medical equipment—eUSB2 provides a power-efficient solution for modern system designs using 1.2V or 1.0V signaling. Arasan’s complete USB 2.0 product family also includes Host, Device, OTG, DRD, Hub, eUSB, and PHY IP cores, along with support for HSIC interfaces used in chip-to-chip USB connections.
“With more than 25 years of USB innovation and over 150 customers worldwide using our USB IP, Arasan continues to lead the way in offering comprehensive USB solutions,” the company stated. The eUSB2 Controller and PHY IP are fully validated on silicon and are now available for licensing on advanced technology nodes across multiple foundry platforms.
