Siemens Limited has been awarded two significant contracts by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-METRO), totaling approximately ₹773 crore. These contracts cover the design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of state-of-the-art signaling and telecommunication systems for the second phase of the Nagpur Metro Rail project, including enhancements to Phase 1. The total project duration is expected to span 42 months.
The scope includes implementing advanced Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling across a 43.8-kilometer network encompassing 32 metro stations. This technology will support precise train movements, improve operational efficiency, and enhance passenger safety and convenience. The systems are expected to deliver 100% on-time performance, energy savings, and optimized train intervals while maintaining top-tier safety standards across the metro system.
Rajeev Joisar, Head of the Mobility Division at Siemens Limited, commented, “We appreciate the continued confidence that MAHA-METRO has placed in us.
