HERE Technologies, a leading global digital mapping provider, has entered into a partnership with Genesys International to create in-car navigation solutions aimed at minimizing distracted driving across India. This collaboration will integrate HERE’s advanced mapping capabilities with Genesys International’s expertise in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to deliver enhanced safety features for vehicles in the Indian market.
India faces a critical road safety issue, with nearly 80,000 fatalities each year from traffic accidents. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways reports that over 3,000 deaths are linked to the use of mobile phones while driving.
A recent survey by HERE among Indian drivers showed overwhelming concern about road safety, with 98% of respondents worried about the risks. Additionally, 91% of participants indicated that ADAS features are vital to improving driving safety.
The new navigation system under development will combine live maps, real-time traffic information, alerts for road hazards, and ADAS functions within a seamless digital cockpit interface. Artificial intelligence will be used to deliver up-to-date notifications on speed limits, traffic conditions, road safety, and optimized routing for electric vehicles including nearby charging stations.
While many Indian automakers are starting to include digital navigation in newer models, current offerings have often fallen short of driver expectations. The partnership between HERE and Genesys aims to close this gap by integrating HERE’s flexible navigation software with Genesys’s ADAS technologies tailored to Indian roads.
Deon Newman, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific at HERE Technologies, said, “There is a growing demand in India for advanced vehicle safety technology such as ADAS. Our partnership with Genesys International combines global experience with local expertise to enable automakers to deliver smarter, safer solutions.”
This alliance aligns with the broader transformation of the Indian automotive sector toward connected and software-centric vehicles. As manufacturers update their offerings to match global standards, integrated navigation and safety systems will become standard features.
Sajid Malik, Chairman and Managing Director of Genesys International Corporation, described the collaboration as a key advancement for road safety. “By merging our India-focused ADAS mapping with HERE’s global navigation platform, we aim to help automakers provide highly connected and context-aware driving experiences,” Malik noted.
Looking ahead, the companies intend to launch a dedicated innovation center in India, where local teams will work closely to design and test solutions tailored to the unique challenges Indian drivers face. HERE currently employs over 3,000 people across offices in three Indian cities.
Serving nearly every major automaker worldwide, HERE provides automotive-grade maps used in navigation, advanced driver assistance, and autonomous driving systems for more than 54 million vehicles globally. Its location data and software are embedded in over 222 million vehicles.
Genesys International Corporation, headquartered in Mumbai, brings over 23 years of expertise in mapping, surveying, and geospatial services. The company employs around 2,000 professionals and delivers 3D mapping, ADAS-ready HD maps, and digital twin technologies to clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to government agencies across sectors including automotive, infrastructure, and utilities.
