Ravin Group, a leader in cable manufacturing and EPC solutions in India, has been awarded the title of ‘Outstanding Component Supplier for Railway Infrastructure’ at the 2025 ET Infra Rail Show Awards. The award acknowledges the company’s vital role in the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) — one of the most demanding infrastructure projects undertaken in the country.
The Group was celebrated for supplying 790 kilometers of specialized, fire-resistant cables, including its proprietary IGNAMO fire-survival range, designed to operate under the extreme conditions of the Himalayan region. A key highlight was the deployment of these cables in Tunnel T13 — a 9.3 km-long stretch within the Katra-Dharam section — known for its freezing temperatures, high seismic activity, steep inclines, and intense humidity, making it unsuitable for conventional cabling solutions.
To address these challenges, Ravin developed halogen-free, low-smoke cables engineered for high fire resistance and durability under intense thermal loads. Some cable reels weighed up to 12 tonnes for every 500 meters, requiring extensive logistical planning to navigate remote, mountainous terrain with minimal infrastructure access. The cables also featured advanced thermal sheathing and offered over two hours of fire integrity to ensure uninterrupted functionality during emergencies in tunnel environments.
“This project demanded more than technical execution — it called for resilience, foresight, and an unwavering commitment to safety,” said Vijay Karia, Chairman and Managing Director of Ravin Group. “Receiving this award reflects the dedication of our teams and the strength of our solutions in one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects.”
Operating in rugged terrain under unpredictable weather conditions, Ravin maintained consistent delivery schedules by adopting a modular production approach and placing technical personnel at high-risk project sites. The company overcame logistical hurdles, such as limited power and transportation access, to ensure successful execution.
Ravin’s evolution from supporting metro systems to connecting remote Himalayan regions illustrates its long-standing vision of building a connected and advanced India. Now in its 75th year, the company continues to champion the ‘Make in India’ initiative by designing and manufacturing its products domestically, reinforcing national self-reliance in infrastructure development.
Established in 1950, Ravin Group has grown into a global player in the electrical energy sector, with advanced manufacturing bases in India and the UAE and exports to more than 100 countries. The Group operates across five core areas: Cable Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Extra High Voltage (EHV) Systems and Accessories, EPC Services, and Electrical Trading. Ravin’s work spans from powering smart cities to supporting green energy transitions — all while upholding its core values of sustainability, innovation, and integrity.
