LanzaJet, a key player in sustainable fuel technology, has announced a new agreement to use Microsoft Azure as its main cloud platform. This move expands the companies’ ongoing partnership and reflects the importance of digital infrastructure in scaling aviation fuel alternatives. By adopting Azure, LanzaJet aims to enhance core business operations, streamline financial systems, and improve data insights across areas such as plant efficiency and supply chain logistics.

It’s the kind of collaboration needed to grow at scale and stay resilient globally.”
Microsoft’s involvement in LanzaJet began with its Climate Innovation Fund, which provided one of the company’s first low-interest loans to help build Freedom Pines Fuels—the first commercial ethanol-to-sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant, located in Soperton, Georgia. In 2024, Microsoft increased its investment, supporting the wider rollout of LanzaJet’s technology.
Beyond financing, Microsoft is also a buyer of LanzaJet fuels, using renewable diesel and SAF certificates from upcoming projects to progress toward its climate goals. Microsoft aims to be carbon negative by 2030 and is using its relationship with LanzaJet to support that target.

The shift to Azure is expected to support LanzaJet’s global operations in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America, enabling more secure and efficient data handling—from tracking raw materials to monitoring emissions. This update comes as LanzaJet gains industry recognition, including mentions from TIME100, S&P Global, and Reuters for its role in advancing cleaner energy solutions.
