Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd, a key player in India’s pumps market, has landed its biggest solar pump project to date, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable agricultural solutions. The Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) has awarded Crompton a contract worth over ₹101 crore (excluding GST) for the supply and installation of 4,500 Off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
This project is part of Component-B of the central initiative aimed at supporting farmers through renewable energy. It includes the complete design, manufacturing, logistics, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar-powered pumping systems across Maharashtra. Additionally, the contract covers a five-year maintenance plan to ensure continued system efficiency.
Crompton’s solar DC submersible pumps are engineered for remote and off-grid environments, delivering strong performance, durability, and ease of use. To ensure smooth execution, Crompton will deploy its field experts, regional support teams, and extensive service infrastructure across the state.
This major order underlines Crompton’s commitment to promoting clean energy solutions and enhancing irrigation for farmers. As rural regions continue to experience erratic rainfall and limited access to electricity, solar pumps are emerging as a reliable and eco-friendly alternative for agricultural water needs.

Crompton was an active participant in the national solar pump tender process, which initially involved SECI and MNRE, and is now being implemented through state nodal agencies such as MEDA, HAREDA, MPUVNL, and RHDS. The company already has operations in states like Maharashtra, Haryana, and Rajasthan, and is preparing to expand into Madhya Pradesh, with plans to grow further across India.
