Cyient Semiconductors Private Limited and MIPS have announced a strategic partnership, unveiled on June 12, 2025, to co-develop specialized silicon solutions that integrate MIPS’ processor technology with Cyient’s expertise in power management. This collaboration will focus on applications in automotive systems, industrial equipment, and data center infrastructure.
The partnership centers around creating domain-specific ASIC and ASSP products using MIPS’ Atlas processor portfolio. Key application areas include motor control, efficient power delivery, and safety-critical operations, with a strong focus on managing real-time processing demands.
Suman Narayan, CEO of Cyient Semiconductors, noted that as computing moves closer to edge environments, the need for intelligent power handling becomes critical. By combining Cyient’s analog and mixed-signal design strengths with MIPS’ advanced processor cores, the companies aim to offer flexible silicon platforms built on open architecture standards.
MIPS CEO Sameer Wasson added that their M8500 microcontrollers are tailored for real-time processing in energy-sensitive applications such as motor control. Integrating these with Cyient’s design capabilities will result in optimized chips ready for deployment in specialized use cases.
The rise in demand for customized silicon is driven by trends such as software-defined vehicles, advanced data centers, and automated industrial systems. By steering clear of closed, proprietary frameworks, this collaboration aims to provide faster, more adaptable development pathways for customers.
MIPS brings decades of experience in RISC-based computing to the table and builds its processor technology on the open RISC-V instruction set, enabling companies to innovate without being tied to legacy platforms.
Cyient Semiconductors, a division of the Cyient Group, offers end-to-end silicon development across analog, RF, digital, and mixed-signal domains. The company supports a range of industries including high-performance computing, telecom, industrial automation, automotive, and medical technology.
This partnership unites MIPS’ strengths in processing with Cyient’s capabilities in power-optimized design, laying the foundation for purpose-built semiconductor solutions that meet the growing demand for high-efficiency, real-time computing in complex environments.
