Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a leading power utility serving approximately 9 million people in North Delhi, has announced the appointment of Dwijadas Basak as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 9, 2025. Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, welcomed Mr Basak, highlighting his extensive experience and successful track record in the power distribution industry. “Dwijadas Basak’s leadership will drive Tata Power-DDL’s next phase of growth, emphasizing innovation, operational excellence, and enhanced customer focus,” he said.
Before joining Tata Power-DDL, Mr Basak served as the CEO of TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited and as Chief Operating Officer at TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd. He has over 30 years of experience in power distribution, having held leadership roles in various Tata Power subsidiaries.
On his appointment, Mr Basak expressed his pride in leading Tata Power-DDL, an organization known for its excellence in quality management and customer service. “I look forward to building on this legacy and driving further growth, with the support of our dedicated team,” he stated.
Mr Basak has completed the Advanced Management Program from IIM Ahmedabad and holds various leadership certifications. He joins Tata Power-DDL after a distinguished career within the Tata Power Group, contributing significantly to the transformation of power distribution operations.
Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited is a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi, providing electricity to North Delhi. The company has been a leader in power distribution reforms, with a significant reduction in technical and commercial losses. Since privatization, Tata Power-DDL has successfully reduced losses from 53% in 2002 to just 5.5% today, setting a benchmark in the industry.
