Servotech Sets Sights on Solar Manufacturing and Global Expansion in EV Charging Sector

Servotech Power Systems, a leading provider of solar energy solutions and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, is making strategic moves to strengthen its position in the renewable energy market. The company is expanding its footprint with plans to establish manufacturing facilities for solar cells and modules, marking a significant step towards backward integration in the solar value chain.

With a new directive from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy requiring domestically produced solar PV cells to be used in government-backed solar projects starting June 1, 2026, Servotech is positioning itself to capitalize on this domestic opportunity. The mandate calls for solar modules used in projects under government schemes, net-metering programs, and open-access renewable energy initiatives to source cells from the ministry’s approved list of domestic manufacturers.

“We’ve already allocated capital for solar panel production, and we’re moving forward with plans to begin solar cell manufacturing soon,” said Raman Bhatia, founder and managing director of Servotech, speaking at the India-Global Green Tech Vision Forum 2025.

Looking ahead, Mr Bhatia emphasized Servotech’s ambition to impact over two million rural households by providing affordable, renewable energy solutions. In addition, the company plans to establish more than 100,000 fast EV charging stations across India in the next five years. To boost its local EV infrastructure efforts, Servotech has entered a partnership with the French firm Watt & Well to jointly develop and manufacture EV charger components in India.

Servotech is also targeting international markets for its EV charging solutions, particularly in Africa and the U.S. To drive this global expansion, the company has appointed global business strategist Errol Musk, father of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, to its Global Advisory Board.

On the domestic front, Servotech has secured several significant contracts with Indian Railways, covering projects across the Northern, Eastern, and Central Railway zones. Recently, the company won a 7.8 MW grid-connected rooftop solar project for the Northeast Frontier Railway’s Rangiya Division. Valued at INR 336 million, the contract also includes a five-year maintenance commitment.
