Farmson Basic Drugs, a pharmaceutical manufacturer based in India, has partnered with Schneider Electric to implement a comprehensive environmental and sustainability strategy. The collaboration, launched in February 2025, focuses on integrating sustainable practices across Farmson’s operations, with support from Schneider Electric’s sustainability consulting and digital tools.
The partnership is structured around three main objectives. First, Farmson will develop a detailed inventory of its greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and establish science-based targets aligned with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The process will also include preparation for CDP climate disclosure and a long-term roadmap for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) improvements.
Second, Farmson will adopt Schneider Electric’s “Resource Advisor” platform to monitor key environmental metrics including energy use, emissions, and water consumption. This will help the company gather and analyze data needed to manage and report its sustainability performance more effectively.
Third, Schneider Electric will conduct energy and water assessments across Farmson’s three manufacturing sites. These assessments will identify practical opportunities to cut emissions, increase the use of renewable energy, and improve overall efficiency. The decarbonization efforts will include measurable outcomes tied to investment and return-on-investment (ROI) benchmarks.
Commenting on the initiative, Deepak Sharma, Zone President – Greater India and CEO of Schneider Electric India, said that the goal is to help companies like Farmson move from intent to action on sustainability. Farmson CEO Vinit Menon noted that the project supports the company’s long-term goals by improving environmental performance while also benefiting business operations. The joint effort is scheduled for completion by October 2025.
