JBM Green Energy Systems has announced that it has secured contracts totaling 3 GWh for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), marking a major step forward in its expansion across India’s growing energy storage sector. Of this total, 1 GWh will be deployed for SJVN Ltd, a government-owned power producer, with the remaining capacity spread across additional client projects.
This milestone reflects the rising demand for energy storage solutions as India pushes ahead with its renewable energy goals. BESS technology plays a crucial role in maintaining grid stability, enabling energy time-shifting, balancing supply and demand, regulating frequency, and supporting peak load management—key elements for integrating solar and wind energy into the national grid.
JBM Green Energy Systems operates a high-voltage lithium-ion battery facility in the Delhi-NCR area, which the company states is the largest of its kind in the country. The plant has an annual output capacity of 6 GWh and serves both the electric mobility sector and large-scale storage projects.
The company’s battery storage solutions are engineered for grid-connected applications, offering quick response capabilities and seamless integration with renewable power systems. These solutions are aligned with India’s target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, a goal that depends heavily on scalable and reliable energy storage.
Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto Ltd, highlighted the link between the company’s experience in electric vehicle battery production and its expansion into utility-scale storage. He noted that the company has spent the past five years developing advanced battery and storage technologies domestically.
JBM Green Energy Systems delivers battery technology for a wide range of sectors, including passenger vehicles, buses, two- and three-wheelers, and energy storage applications spanning from small community grids to utility-level installations. The company oversees every stage of the process—from product design and manufacturing to distribution and after-sales service.
This move into grid-scale storage marks a strategic broadening of JBM’s portfolio beyond electric mobility. As India continues its shift toward renewable power, the need for robust storage infrastructure is expected to grow rapidly to support a stable, flexible, and resilient energy network.
JBM Auto Ltd, the parent company, has been active in sustainable transportation and energy solutions for over ten years, laying a strong foundation for JBM Green Energy Systems’ expanding role in the energy storage industry.
