Sembcorp Industries announced on Thursday that its subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra, has successfully secured a 150 MW solar project. This project is part of SJVN’s 1.2 GW tender for solar projects connected to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), which also includes a 600 MW/2.4 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

Through its wholly-owned renewables arm, Sembcorp Green Infra Pvt Ltd (SGIPL), Sembcorp has received the Letter of Award from SJVN Ltd for the 150 MW solar project, which will also feature a 300 MWh BESS. Once completed and upon the execution of a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA), the project will deliver solar power and support peak demand for up to four hours each day through the energy storage system.

Commercial operations are expected to begin within 24 months from the signing of the PPA. The project will be financed through a combination of internal funds and debt. This marks Sembcorp’s second solar-energy storage hybrid project in India, bringing its total renewable capacity in the country to 6.3 GW. Globally, Sembcorp’s renewables portfolio now totals 17.7 GW, including projects in the pipeline.

The company noted that the project is not expected to have a significant impact on its earnings per share or net tangible assets per share for the financial year ending December 31, 2025.
