AVPL International has received official authorization from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to conduct drone pilot training for medium-class rotorcraft in India. This designation places AVPL among a select group of Remote Pilot Training Organizations (RPTOs) qualified to train operators for drones weighing between 25 kg and 150 kg.
The medium drone category is gaining increasing relevance in sectors such as agriculture and defense, where these systems are employed for advanced applications including crop surveillance, precision spraying, and tactical monitoring. Despite growing demand, the availability of certified drone pilots in this category remains limited across India. AVPL International seeks to bridge this skills gap through its newly approved training programs.
“This certification reflects our commitment to developing high-caliber drone professionals equipped for emerging sector needs,” said Preet Sandhuu, Founder and Managing Director of AVPL International. “It reinforces our broader mission to equip India’s workforce with advanced technical competencies and to foster innovation within the drone ecosystem.”
AVPL International has made significant contributions to the development of drone technology in India. Among its key innovations is the Viraj drone—a 10-litre capacity agricultural drone engineered for efficient spraying and field diagnostics. The company’s focus on indigenous innovation has been strengthened through collaborations with institutions such as IIT Ropar and IIT Kanpur. These partnerships are dedicated to expanding drone research and delivering solutions customized to India’s agricultural landscape. Through these initiatives, AVPL International is strategically positioned to influence the development of a self-sustaining drone industry in India, advancing both technology and workforce readiness.
AVPL International (AITMC Ventures Ltd) is a prominent force in the fields of drone technology, precision agriculture, geospatial intelligence, and defense.
