GreenCell Mobility has received an order for more than 1,200 electric buses from Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) as part of the PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme, as announced on May 14, 2025. The company has been awarded a contract for 472 Eicher electric buses in Madhya Pradesh and 750 buses from Pinnacle Mobility Solutions for Andhra Pradesh.
These electric buses will be distributed across six cities in Madhya Pradesh and 11 cities in Andhra Pradesh. GreenCell Mobility has teamed up with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) for the Madhya Pradesh project and with Pinnacle Mobility Solutions (EKA Mobility) for the Andhra Pradesh initiative.

Devendra Chawla, Managing Director and CEO of GreenCell Mobility, highlighted that these projects mark a crucial milestone in the company’s efforts to revolutionize public transport through sustainable, zero-emission buses. The company is also working to develop the essential charging infrastructure to support the widespread deployment of these vehicles.
Currently, GreenCell Mobility operates 900 electric buses across Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The new contracts will extend its reach into two additional states, reinforcing the company’s commitment to electrifying public transportation across India.
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles, shared that their Eicher electric buses have already covered over 1.4 crore kilometers nationwide. Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility & Pinnacle Industries Limited, described the partnership as a major step in fostering sustainable urban development.
The PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme is part of the Indian government’s broader initiative to deploy 10,000 electric buses across the country, supporting the nation’s goals of transitioning to electric public transport. In the 2024-25 financial year, CESL issued a tender for 4,588 electric buses under this initiative.
India is accelerating its shift to electric mobility as part of its climate action plans. The transportation sector contributes approximately 13% of India’s carbon emissions, with a focus on electrifying public transport as a key strategy. The government has introduced various policies and incentives, such as the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme, to encourage electric vehicle adoption.
GreenCell Mobility, supported by climate-focused investor Eversource Capital, is dedicated to offering Electric Mobility-as-a-Service. Its electric buses boast a range of over 250 kilometers per charge, fast-charging capabilities, and zero tailpipe emissions, contributing to cleaner urban air. The widespread adoption of electric buses in public transport is expected to reduce India’s reliance on imported fossil fuels and address air quality issues in cities. Industry estimates suggest that each electric bus can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 100 tons annually compared to conventional diesel buses.
