Indofast Energy and EVeez have announced a joint plan to deploy 20,000 electric bikes across several major Indian cities within the next two years. The rollout is part of a broader effort to strengthen battery-swapping networks in both Tier I and Tier II cities such as Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Vijayawada, supporting delivery operations in sectors like e-commerce, food delivery, and rapid retail logistics.
The two companies are expanding on a prior working relationship, aiming to address rising demand for electric mobility solutions among gig workers and last-mile delivery partners. The deployment is expected to improve access to cost-effective transport while reducing downtime through easily available battery-swap points.
Indofast Energy currently runs more than 900 battery-swapping stations in over 22 cities, enabling about 12 lakh swaps each month. Its Battery-as-a-Service model is compatible with a range of two-, three-, and small four-wheeled electric vehicles, allowing for quick battery changes rather than lengthy charging.
EVeez, which offers electric two-wheelers on a subscription basis, operates a fleet of around 7,000 bikes in nine cities. Its services are aimed at removing the upfront cost of vehicle ownership, providing flexible access to electric vehicles for individuals and commercial users.
Leaders from both companies highlighted the importance of the collaboration in boosting EV use and creating more stable earning opportunities for workers in the delivery economy. The initiative is positioned to address gaps in charging infrastructure and offer a practical alternative to traditional fuel-based transport in urban areas.
