NueGo, India’s largest intercity electric bus service operated by GreenCell Mobility, has fully equipped its fleet of over 275 electric buses with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Since its launch in 2022, the company has prioritized safety by integrating these features well ahead of any regulatory requirements for heavy commercial vehicles.
The ADAS suite on NueGo buses uses a combination of sensors, cameras, and radar to monitor road conditions and enhance driver awareness. Key features include automatic emergency braking, electronic stability control, lane departure alerts, and driver drowsiness detection—designed to significantly reduce the risk of accidents and improve overall passenger safety.
“Our commitment to safety goes beyond compliance—it’s a core part of our identity,” said Devndra Chawla, Managing Director and CEO of GreenCell Mobility. “We’ve taken a proactive approach by standardizing these advanced systems across our entire fleet, setting a new safety benchmark for intercity electric travel in India.”
In addition to ADAS, NueGo has implemented several other safety protocols. These include mandatory breathalyzer tests for drivers before every trip, designated seats for women passengers, GPS-based real-time tracking, high-definition CCTV surveillance, and continuous driver monitoring powered by smart technology.
The company also provides a dedicated women’s helpline, ensures clean and secure rest stops along routes, and manages a 24×7 command control center that monitors bus operations across the network in real time.
NueGo currently operates across more than 100 Indian cities, offering long-distance travel on electric buses that can cover over 250 kilometers per charge. Each bus undergoes a series of 25 safety inspections—including both mechanical and electrical checks—before departing for service.
The focus on advanced safety measures comes at a time when India’s road safety remains a serious concern. Official statistics highlight the country’s high rate of road accidents, with commercial vehicles accounting for a significant share of incidents.
Electric buses are increasingly seen as a key component of India’s sustainable transport strategy. By reducing tailpipe emissions and reliance on fossil fuels, electric fleets like NueGo contribute to the country’s broader environmental and energy goals.
GreenCell Mobility, the parent company of NueGo, continues to drive the transition toward cleaner public transportation. Its growing electric bus fleet underscores the company’s long-term vision for sustainable mobility solutions tailored for the Indian market.
