Alpex Solar Limited, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, has announced that it has been awarded a major contract worth Rs 210.71 crore from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) to supply advanced solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing clean energy infrastructure, contributing to the global transition to sustainable energy solutions.
As per the agreement, Alpex Solar will provide high-performance solar PV modules for SECI’s renewable energy projects across India. The project is expected to be completed within nine months from the order date, highlighting Alpex Solar’s capacity to deliver quality products within tight schedules. The order will be fulfilled at Alpex Solar’s cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, which recently expanded to a 1.2 GW production capacity. Ashwani Sehgal, Managing Director of Alpex Solar, commented, “We are honored to be selected by SECI for this important project. This order reflects our commitment to advancing solar technology and supporting India’s renewable energy goals. At Alpex Solar, we aim to provide energy solutions that meet today’s needs and contribute to a sustainable future for generations ahead.”
In February 2025, Alpex Solar secured a Rs 45 crore order from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL) as part of the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump scheme. Under this contract, Alpex Solar will supply 2,000 solar-powered water pumps, promoting the adoption of clean energy in agriculture across Maharashtra.
Alpex Solar is expanding its production capabilities with a new state-of-the-art solar cell manufacturing facility. This facility will have a total capacity of 1.6 GW and will be developed in three phases. The first phase, which will have a 500 MW capacity, is set to begin operations in December 2025 at Unit II in Kosi Kotwan Ext-II, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. This expansion will significantly strengthen the company’s manufacturing capacity in the solar energy sector.
In a move to boost brand recognition, Alpex Solar has also appointed cricket legend Rahul Dravid as its brand ambassador in Q3 FY25. This collaboration with Dravid, a former Indian cricket captain, aligns with the company’s goal of increasing its visibility as it continues to grow and expand its operations. The partnership aims to amplify Alpex Solar’s presence in both the renewable energy market and broader consumer markets.
Additionally, Alpex Solar has leased two new manufacturing units, spanning a total of 42,000 sq mtr in Uttar Pradesh, located in Kosi Kotwan and Sikandrabad. The Kosi Kotwan facility will focus on producing aluminum frames, with production expected to start by December 2025. Meanwhile, the Sikandrabad unit will house an additional 1.2 GW solar module production line, which is expected to begin commercial operations around the same time. These new facilities will further enhance Alpex Solar’s capacity to meet growing demand in the renewable energy market.
Alpex Solar was founded in 1993 by Ashwani Sehgal, Monica Sehgal, and Vipin Sehgal. The company specializes in the production of PV modules using monocrystalline and polycrystalline technologies. Their product range includes Topcon, bifacial, mono-perc, and Halfcut solar PV modules. Additionally, Alpex Solar provides comprehensive solutions, including engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of both surface and submersible solar pumps.
The company ventured into solar panel manufacturing in 2007 and currently operates a 150,000 sq. ft. facility in Greater Noida. With a current capacity of 1.2 GW, the plant is set to double to 2.4 GW. Alpex Solar’s R&D capabilities and manufacturing expertise have established it as one of the leading suppliers of PV panels. The company employs over 350 professionals and was listed on NSE Emerge in February 2024.
