The Mahindra Group announced on February 19 that it has entered a strategic partnership with US-based Anduril Industries, a leader in autonomous systems, to co-develop cutting-edge security and surveillance technologies. This collaboration will focus on creating autonomous maritime systems, AI-powered counter-unmanned aerial system (CUAS) solutions, and next-generation command and control (C2) software to enhance regional security and operational capabilities.
The partnership will primarily work on the development of modular autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) designed for various security, surveillance, reconnaissance, and survey missions. These AUVs will be built for rapid deployment, improving underwater operational efficiency. In addition, the companies will focus on CUAS technologies to detect and neutralize drone threats, enhancing protection against the evolving challenges in aerial security.
“This collaboration merges our engineering expertise with Anduril’s innovative solutions, allowing us to provide advanced security capabilities and address emerging threats,” said Vinod Sahay, Group Executive Board Member, Mahindra Group. He further emphasized the partnership’s role in advancing autonomous and security technologies.
The joint effort also includes the creation of a sensor fusion platform that integrates multiple sensor technologies within an open API architecture. This platform is designed to streamline the integration of advanced tech into security frameworks, accelerating adoption across defense and surveillance sectors.
“Global security forces are facing a rapidly changing landscape of threats from unmanned systems and traditional manned platforms. Autonomy will be critical to maintaining effective protection,” added Greg Kausner, Senior Vice President of Global Defense at Anduril Industries, highlighting the importance of autonomous systems in addressing modern security challenges.
As security threats continue to evolve, the partnership aims to enhance operational readiness and strengthen India’s defense capabilities. While specific project timelines and details are yet to be disclosed, the focus remains on rapidly deploying these advanced technologies to meet growing security needs.
