The Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) is actively exploring opportunities for co-assembly and co-production of the Javelin anti-tank weapon system in India. To facilitate this, JJV is engaging in a competitive source selection process with potential Indian partners. Strengthening this initiative, JJV has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a Government of India enterprise with extensive experience in weapon manufacturing and system integration.

“We are eager to explore co-production partnerships in India to enhance its defense capabilities,” said Dave Pantano, Vice President of Javelin Joint Venture and Lockheed Martin’s Javelin Program Director. “We have been engaging with potential Indian partners to establish strategic, long-term collaborations that align with the Indian Ministry of Defence’s needs for deterrence and security.”

The renewed MoU with BDL will enable JJV to assess the feasibility of manufacturing Javelin in India, potentially supporting future requirements of the Indian armed forces and strengthening the country’s anti-tank warfare capabilities. “As demand for Javelin continues to rise, our collaboration with Indian industry will help leverage local expertise while ensuring India gains access to one of the most effective and battle-proven anti-armor weapon systems in the world,” added Andy Amaro, President of Javelin Joint Venture and Raytheon’s Javelin Program Director.

Developed by JJV—a partnership between Raytheon (an RTX business) and Lockheed Martin—it is a highly versatile and portable anti-tank guided missile system. To date, more than 55,000 missiles and over 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units have been produced, with the system being procured by 25 nations worldwide.

Lockheed Martin is a global defense technology leader, delivering advanced solutions to enhance security and innovation worldwide. Raytheon specializes in integrated defense solutions, providing cutting-edge technologies in missile defense, sensors, and space systems to support global security.

RTX, with over 185,000 employees worldwide, pioneers next-generation aerospace and defense solutions across its businesses—Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, RTX recorded $69 billion in sales in 2023. Established in 1970, BDL is a key player in India’s defense sector, manufacturing missile systems, underwater weaponry, and advanced defense technologies for the Indian Armed Forces.
