On the concluding day of Aero India 2025, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between its HAL Management Academy and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Dharwad to strengthen industry-academia collaboration in advanced technologies.
This partnership aims to facilitate joint research, internships, and technical education in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, Augmented & Virtual Reality, and Digital Manufacturing, with a special focus on applications in aerospace and defence, HAL stated in a press release on Friday.
As part of the MoU, HAL officers will have opportunities to pursue higher education at IIIT Dharwad, while students will gain practical exposure through internships across HAL’s various divisions. The collaboration will also encompass joint workshops, technical publications, and faculty exchange programs, fostering mutual knowledge-sharing and skill enhancement. “This partnership will drive innovation and create a bridge between industry and academia, benefiting both sectors significantly,” said Prof. S R Mahadeva Prasanna, Director of IIIT Dharwad.
The MoU was signed in the presence of HAL Chairman and Managing Director D K Sunil and Executive Director (HR) M G Balasubrahmanya. By fostering research, upskilling professionals, and developing cutting-edge technological solutions, this collaboration marks a crucial step in advancing India’s aerospace and defence industries.
