Cooper Corporation, a well-established engine and component manufacturer, officially opened its first tractor manufacturing plant in Satara, Maharashtra, on February 1, 2025. The company also unveiled its NDC Series tractors, developed in partnership with leading international firms such as Ricardo UK, Magna Steyr, Carraro, and Mita.
The plant’s inauguration was marked by the presence of Maharashtra Public Works Minister Ch. ShivendraRaje Bhosale, Mahesh Shinde, Vice Chairman of Maharashtra Krushna Khore Vikas Mahamandal, and Clive Bagnall, Director of Global Product Development at Ricardo UK. The NDC Series tractors are equipped with a 4-valve engine, dual-clutch transmission, and a 3-meter turning radius. Technical highlights include a Bosch fuel system, ceramic-coated rings, and a compacted graphite cylinder head. These tractors are designed for both agricultural work and hauling tasks.
Farrokh N. Cooper, Chairman and Managing Director of Cooper Corporation, emphasized the company’s agricultural roots, noting his experience as a farmer. “These tractors are built to enhance productivity, reduce operational costs, and endure tough farming conditions,” Cooper said during the launch.
This move into the tractor market comes at a time when India’s agricultural machinery sector is becoming increasingly competitive, with both domestic and international brands vying for market share. There has been a strong focus on improving fuel efficiency and cutting operational costs to better meet the needs of farmers.
