Titan Engineering & Automation Ltd (TEAL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Titan Company Ltd., part of the Tata Group, is expanding its footprint with plans to establish a new electronics manufacturing facility in Chennai and further grow its presence in Hosur. According to NP Sridhar, MD & CEO of TEAL, the new plant in Chennai will focus on electronics components and support, with the company having already secured the land for the facility. The plant will be a leased premise and will be strategically located for better proximity to customers.

At its Hosur site, TEAL has purchased 10 acres of land for expansion, bringing the total number of units at the location to four. This growth initiative is part of a broader ₹430-crore capital expenditure plan over five years, which was announced at the Global Investors Meet (GIM) 2024.

A portion of the investment, ₹200 crore, will go toward manufacturing components used in wafer fab equipment essential for semiconductor production. For the current financial year, TEAL anticipates revenues between ₹830 crore and ₹900 crore, up from ₹761 crore in the previous fiscal year. Sridhar is targeting annual growth rates of 20-25% in the years to come.

“TEAL has evolved from being a watchmaking unit in the 1990s to becoming an independent entity providing manufacturing and automation solutions to global markets,” Sridhar shared. Initially founded as an in-house engineering team for high-precision component manufacturing and machine design, TEAL now operates a comprehensive machine-building and automation business.

The company’s automation solutions cater to a variety of industries, including automotive, energy, life sciences, engineering, and consumer products. One of TEAL’s specialties includes designing and installing modular assembly lines for machine construction, particularly for clients in the automotive sector.

“We now export machines to Germany, France, and Italy, which is a big shift from when we used to import them,” Sridhar noted. TEAL also provides turnkey assembly and testing solutions for sectors such as solar wafer production, watches, shaving blades, and pencils.

Additionally, TEAL specializes in manufacturing high-precision components and sub-assemblies for the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries. The company’s products are used in aircraft, with clients like Boeing and Airbus utilizing TEAL-made components such as turbine discs and diffusers. In defense, TEAL provides components for thermal imaging, radars, avionics, and in-flight connectivity.

TEAL’s components can be found in a wide range of products, from cars and two-wheelers to mobile phones and aircraft. The company serves over 150 clients and has completed more than 800 projects across 19 countries, with seven global partners.
