JSW Energy announced on Friday that its subsidiaries, JSW Renew Energy Six Ltd and JSW Renew Energy Thirty Ltd, have signed agreements to supply 1,200 MW of hybrid solar-wind power to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL).
The agreements cover two projects, each with a capacity of 600 MW, connecting to the state transmission utility (STU). The letters of award for these projects were issued on August 29 and September 10, 2024, according to a statement from JSW Energy.
These hybrid projects are expected to be completed within 24 months, with the power purchase agreements set for a 25-year period at a rate of ₹3.60 per kWh.
Currently, JSW Energy has a project pipeline of 8.3 GW, with power purchase agreements signed for 4.4 GW. The company’s total locked-in generation capacity stands at 18.2 GW, including 7.7 GW of operational capacity and 2.1 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro sectors.
JSW Energy is also expanding its energy storage capabilities, with 16.2 GWh secured through battery energy storage systems and hydro pumped storage projects. The company aims to reach 20 GW of total generation capacity and 40 GWh of storage capacity by 2030, with a long-term goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
