Bajaj Auto is set to enhance its Triumph brand portfolio and strengthen its sales network to solidify its presence in the expanding domestic mid-size motorcycle market, as revealed by a senior company official.

The Pune-based company, in partnership with the British motorcycle brand Triumph, introduced two new 400-cc models on Tuesday: the Speed T4 and Speed 400, priced at Rs 2.17 lakh and Rs 2.4 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Delhi).

Bajaj Auto President of Pro Biking Business Unit, Sumeet Narang, shared that after establishing the Triumph brand over the past year, the next step is to broaden its reach. “We aim to extend our sales network to about 170 outlets by the end of this year and expand to over 200 dealerships next year,” Narang said.

The expansion will target smaller cities and towns, with opportunities also present in metropolitan areas as the market grows, including suburbs. Narang emphasized that rapid growth in coverage is expected in the next 18 to 24 months.

The company currently operates in over 75 cities with more than 120 dealerships. Regarding new models, Narang mentioned that additional models are anticipated within the next year to support the investments made by dealers and the establishment of exclusive showrooms.

Triumph’s modern classics range, starting at Rs 1.7 lakh, competes with brands like Royal Enfield in the domestic market. This segment, which represents about 11% of the total motorcycle industry, has been growing at a rate twice as fast as the overall motorcycle market, with a nearly 30% CAGR over the last three years.

Narang noted that Triumph has become the second-largest player in the classic segment, surpassing several established competitors, and the introduction of new models is expected to reinforce this position.

Bajaj Auto Executive Director Rakesh Sharma highlighted that the new models combine heritage and innovation, catering to both relaxed and performance-focused riders. “The Triumph and Bajaj partnership has delivered nearly 60,000 bikes of the TR series to over 50 countries, including India. We are pleased with the customer response and the expanding franchise,” Sharma added.
