HP India is set to enter a manufacturing agreement with Padget Electronics, a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, to produce notebooks, desktops, and all-in-one PCs under India’s PLI 2.0 scheme. According to a joint statement on Monday, the production will take place at Padget’s new facility in Chennai.
Padget Electronics is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HP India Sales Private Limited to begin manufacturing, pending final agreements. Ipsita Dasgupta, Managing Director of HP India, stated that this move highlights HP’s commitment to the “Make in India” initiative. She expressed confidence that the partnership will deliver an expanded range of locally manufactured products, blending HP’s advanced technology with Dixon’s manufacturing capabilities.
The new facility in Oragadam, Chennai, will span 300,000 square feet and focus on producing laptops, desktops, and all-in-one devices under the IT Hardware PLI 2.0 Scheme. At full capacity, the plant is expected to create 1,500 direct jobs and produce up to 2 million units annually.
Atul B Lall, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Dixon Technologies, emphasized HP’s global leadership in advanced technology. He said the collaboration, combining it’s industry-leading processes with Dixon’s manufacturing expertise, will bring a range of HP personal systems to Indian consumers.
