The shareholders and management of Millutensil have announced, with great sadness, the passing of their esteemed founder, Luigia Assi Just, a true Captain of Industry and Master of Mechanics. Known affectionately as ‘Signora Luisa,’ she was an innovator and trendsetter who not only defied the norms of her time but also carved out a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Luigia Assi Just was an extraordinary woman who left an indelible mark on the history of the company she founded in 1955 in Milan. Barely in her twenties, Luigia embarked on a journey into the core engineering sector—a field that was largely uncharted territory for women at the time. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a vision beyond her years, she established Millutensil, a name that would become synonymous with innovation and excellence in the mechanical and automation sectors.
Luigia’s journey was with many challenges; she navigated age and gender biases with tenacity, ultimately transforming a small enterprise into a globally recognised manufacturing powerhouse. From its inception in 1955, ‘Signora Luisa’ led the company with a unique blend of feminine resolve and business acumen, steering it through decades of growth while staying true to the family values of rectitude, dedication, and a deep sense of duty. Her leadership saw Millutensil evolve into a symbol of Italian excellence in the mechanical and automation sectors, exporting cutting-edge technology across the globe, all while maintaining the close-knit ethos of a small, solid enterprise.
Over the decades, her influence extended beyond business; she was a mentor and leader who valued the contributions of her employees, ensuring they were recognized and rewarded. In 2012, she was honored with the ‘Master of Mechanics’ award by UCIMU – Union of Italian Machine Tool Manufacturers, a testament to her impact on the industry.
Luigia’s legacy continues through her daughters, Beatrice and Veronica Just, who now lead Millutensil with the same passion and dedication. As the company moves forward, the values of integrity, innovation, and resilience that Luigia instilled will guide every decision and challenge. Her memory will forever be a part of Millutensil, inspiring all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
