Dabur announced on Thursday plans to establish its first manufacturing facility in South India with a ₹400 crore investment. The new plant, located in the SIPCOT Food Park in Tindivanam, Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu, represents a significant expansion into the southern market.
The investment will be phased, starting with ₹135 crore, with the total reaching ₹400 crore over the next five years. The project aims to generate around 250 direct jobs and thousands of indirect employment opportunities, contributing positively to the local economy and benefiting nearby farmers.
Tamil Nadu’s Industry Minister, TRB Rajaa, shared the news on social media, expressing enthusiasm for the project and welcoming Dabur to Tamil Nadu and South India. In his post, he highlighted the impact on the local agricultural sector, noting that the facility will create job opportunities and provide a new market for agro-produce from the Delta region.
“This investment will significantly enhance the industrial landscape of the Delta region and support local farmers,” Minister Rajaa said. “Dabur’s decision to invest here underscores Tamil Nadu’s robust industrial ecosystem and skilled workforce.”
Dabur India’s CEO, Mohit Malhotra, thanked the Tamil Nadu government and local authorities for their support. He emphasized that the new facility will help meet the growing demand for Dabur’s products in South India and strengthen the company’s market presence in the region.
“This state-of-the-art facility will be among our most modern and eco-friendly plants,” Malhotra said. “We look forward to contributing to the local economy and working closely with the community to ensure the success of this project.”
