Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has announced the acquisition of significant orders worth Rs 7,000 crore from Adani Power for the development of two supercritical thermal power plants. This landmark achievement underscores BHEL’s leadership in the power generation sector.

The first order is for the construction of a 2×800 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Raipur district, Chhattisgarh. The second order involves the development of another 2×800 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, through MTEUPPL, a subsidiary of Adani Power Limited. BHEL disclosed these details in an official statement released on Friday.

BHEL’s scope of work for both projects encompasses the manufacture and supply of key plant equipment and associated auxiliaries, along with the supervision of erection and commissioning activities. The crucial components for these power plants, such as steam generators, steam turbines, and generators, will be produced at BHEL’s facilities in Trichy and Haridwar.

“We are pleased to have secured these prestigious orders from Adani Power, reaffirming our commitment to providing reliable and efficient power solutions,” the company stated. “These projects will significantly contribute to meeting the power demands of Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh, further supporting the region’s economic growth.”

BHEL, under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, stands as India’s largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise, with a diverse portfolio spanning the energy, industry, and infrastructure sectors. The company has a long-standing reputation for delivering state-of-the-art power generation equipment and services, playing a pivotal role in the nation’s power sector.

The Raipur and Mirzapur power projects will enhance the electricity generation capacity in their respective regions, providing a substantial boost to the local infrastructure and economy. The supercritical technology employed in these plants will ensure higher efficiency and reduced emissions, aligning with India’s commitment to sustainable development.

This development marks a significant milestone for both BHEL and Adani Power, showcasing a collaborative effort to meet India’s growing energy needs while adhering to environmental standards. The successful completion of these projects will not only strengthen BHEL’s position in the power sector but also contribute to the country’s long-term energy security.
