BluPine Energy has announced a significant agreement with Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. to supply green energy through a solar power project in Karnataka. This project, with an estimated capacity of 47 megawatts (MW), is expected to generate approximately 93.75 million units (MUs) of electricity annually, substantially reducing carbon emissions by over 85,000 tonnes each year.

In a statement released on Tuesday, BluPine Energy detailed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with Dalmia Cement (Bharat), a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Group. The agreement involves the establishment of a 46.87 MWp solar power plant under a captive structure.

Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy, highlighted the dual benefits of the project. “The solar plant in Karnataka will not only produce clean energy but also foster local economic growth and support environmental sustainability. This project will help reduce operating costs and improve energy efficiency,” he said.

The project underscores BluPine Energy’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint in India. The company currently boasts a total renewable capacity of 2.4 gigawatts (GW), with over 725 MW already operational across 27 sites in seven states. Established by Actis, a global investor dedicated to building sustainable infrastructure companies, BluPine Energy has positioned itself as a leader in the renewable energy sector in India.

This collaboration with Dalmia Cement aligns with both companies’ sustainability goals. Dalmia Cement has been a pioneer in embracing green initiatives within the cement industry, and this partnership is set to enhance its energy efficiency while contributing significantly to its carbon footprint reduction.

As India continues to push towards renewable energy adoption, projects like this serve as a testament to the growing commitment from major corporations to support the nation’s environmental goals. The solar power plant in Karnataka represents a step forward in sustainable industrial practices, paving the way for a greener future.
