BP Plc has recently announced its plans to establish a new center of technical excellence in Pune, India, aimed at providing engineering and technical support to its global operations. This strategic move aligns with BP’s mission of enhancing its capabilities in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

BP Plc, formerly British Petroleum, is a multinational oil and gas company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. As one of the world’s largest energy companies, BP operates across the entire energy spectrum, encompassing oil and gas exploration, production, refining, and distribution. Additionally, the company has made significant strides in renewable energy and low-carbon technologies, reflecting its commitment to a more sustainable and diversified energy future.

BP has announced its intention to establish BP Technical Solutions India (bp TSI), a significant center for global technical and engineering expertise, in Pune, India. The center is set to open its doors in the second quarter of 2024, with the initial workforce set to comprise more than 400 staff. Over a multi-year period, BP anticipates scaling up employment to over 1,000 as the facility expands its operations and services. The first job postings for the center were announced on December 1, 2023.

BP’s decision to establish bp TSI reflects its strategic focus on leveraging India’s technical talent pool and robust engineering capabilities. The center aims to provide high-quality services to both BP’s hydrocarbons and new energy businesses across the globe. Molyama Kromah has been appointed as the Head of BP Technical Solutions India, based in Pune, overseeing the center’s operations.

Ms Kromah, with more than 20 years of experience at BP, previously led production and operations activities for the gas business in Mumbai, India, as part of the joint venture with Reliance Industries Ltd. Her diverse leadership and technical roles in Trinidad, Egypt, and London position her well to spearhead BP’s technical initiatives in India.

“BP TSI intends to provide technical services across a range of areas, including engineering, maintenance, optimization, data processes, projects, and subsurface,” according to the company statement. The center is poised to play a pivotal role in BP’s ongoing transformation efforts in engineering processes.
