Pinewood Systems has recently shared its plans to collaborate with the state-owned Braithwaite & Co for the development of a substantial 500 MW solar power project in Maharashtra. Pinewood Systems, an investor in India’s renewable energy sector, operates independently, while Braithwaite & Co falls under the Ministry of Railways. Pinewood Systems has announced the formation of an executive team to execute the project in an official statement.
Pinewood looks forward to extend their collaboration to dealers and OEMs worldwide, enabling the implementation of a cutting-edge digital dealer management system, empowering their clients to concentrate on achieving substantial outcomes for their business. Pinewood’s intuitively designed system is organized by role type and operates seamlessly, ensuring complete connectivity. It offers visibility and access to information throughout to the dealership operations, eliminating the necessity for redundant data entry or reliance on multiple add-on systems. This proves to be a time-saving asset for dealers, fostering heightened productivity and minimizing data input time. The company also offers provision to access comprehensive reports derived from accurate, real-time information, harmonizing data from various departments.
According to Satish Jha, Chairman of Pinewood Systems, the board has selected a proficient team comprised of individuals educated at prestigious institutions such as IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIM Calcutta. This high-performing team boasts over a decade of collective experience in the realms of energy and solar project management. Leading this exceptional group is a seasoned executive with expertise in both the power sector and technology, providing a comprehensive skill set to drive success in the endeavors undertaken by Pinewood Systems.

He conveyed that this undertaking holds immense prestige for the entire team at Braithwaite & Co. Furthermore, Kumar emphasized their unwavering commitment to labor assiduously for the paramount welfare of farmers, asserting that it constitutes the ultimate objective of this esteemed project.
Pinewood has established a newly assembled team entrusted with the comprehensive management of the 500 MW Solar Project throughout its entire lifecycle. The team’s pivotal responsibilities encompass meticulous project planning, judicious allocation of resources, adept risk management, and diligent adherence to regulatory compliance. The overarching goal for Pinewood is to meticulously adhere to the timeline delineated by MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited), ensuring a seamless and timely execution of the project.
In July of the year 2022, Braithwaite secured an allocation of 500 megawatts (MW) within the ambit of the Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana, out of a total of 535 MW of bids that were deemed acceptable by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). This particular allotment pertains specifically to projects falling within the 2 to 10 MW capacity range. It is noteworthy that Braithwaite India had meticulously identified and presented 119 potential sites where it expressed its willingness to undertake the development of the aforementioned 500 MW projects that it had emerged victorious in securing through the competitive bidding process.
As of March 3, 2023, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has entered into Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for a cumulative capacity of nearly 6000 megawatts (MW) in solar projects, with an impressive 4100 MW already commissioned. In the fiscal year 2022-23 alone, MSEDCL has formalized PPAs for solar projects totaling 500 MW, and out of these, projects with a combined capacity of 800 MW have been successfully commissioned. Turning attention to centralized projects, MSEDCL has secured PPAs for a substantial 4400 MW of solar projects, and an impressive 3600 MW capacity has been effectively commissioned. This underscores MSEDCL’s significant strides in the realm of solar energy, contributing to the region’s sustainable and renewable energy goals.
The Government of Maharashtra introduced the Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) in 2017, aiming to ensure a consistent daytime power supply to agricultural consumers. Under this initiative, the focus is on the solarization of 11 KV Agriculture feeders. In the previous fiscal year, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) successfully entered into Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for a total capacity of 1513 MW through decentralized solar projects. Notably, 556 MW of this capacity has already been commissioned, reflecting the significant strides taken towards the implementation of renewable energy solutions in the agricultural sector.
