Gebrüder Weiss’s Pioneering Hydrogen Truck Transports ETH Zurich’s Solar Car for the World Challenge

Gebrüder Weiss Holding AG, a global logistics giant based in Lauterach, Austria, is showcasing its commitment to sustainable transport solutions by assisting Team aCentauri’s solar car journey to the World Solar Challenge in Australia. On September 05, the company’s groundbreaking hydrogen truck embarked on the first leg, transporting the solar car designed by bright minds at ETH Zurich.

Gebrüder Weiss, boasting an impressive €3 billion annual sales from the previous fiscal year and operating from 180 company-owned locations worldwide, extends its vast logistics expertise through land, sea, and air transport solutions. The company’s comprehensive strategy guarantees the aCentauri solar car’s timely presence at the Darwin starting line in October.

Katharina Zimmerling, the Air & Sea Zurich Branch Manager, expressed her admiration for the solar team at ETH Zurich. “Witnessing the solar team’s tenacity towards crafting the mobility alternatives of the future is truly commendable. Competitors at the World Solar Challenge are tasked with a grueling 3,000-kilometer journey across the challenging terrains of the Australian outback, solely relying on solar energy from Darwin to Adelaide. Team aCentauri is among the distinguished 31 teams in the “Challenger” category.
