Callington excels in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of pioneering specialty chemical solutions tailored to the unique needs of industries such as aviation, metalworking, welding and metal treatment, industrial applications, fuel additives, and non-destructive testing, made its mark on the visitors and manufacturing enthusiasts from all over the world.
The inauguration ceremony of the Technology Center that took place on June 14th was graced by the esteemed presence of Nick Schoulal, Managing Director of Callington Group Companies, accompanied by Catherine Gallagher, Minister-Commercial and Head of Austrade, Sarah Kirlew, Australian Consul-General for South India and Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala of IIT Madras. The said laboratory is a modern research and development center, equipped with advanced facilities and staffed by highly skilled scientists and technicians.
Nick Schoulal, while talking about the newly inaugurated Technology Centre said, “For the past few years, we have been manufacturing in India and supplying the Indian market. With the establishment of our research lab here at IIT Madras, surrounded by highly intelligent and bright scientists whom we can collaborate with, we believe we can expedite many of our ongoing research projects that are currently being conducted in Australia and Paris. Traditionally, petroleum oils have been used in the metal cutting, grinding, and metalworking field. However, we have accelerated the transition from petroleum oils to synthetic, biodegradable, and sustainable lubricants for machining purposes. Therefore, at IIT Madras, in collaboration with other centers of excellence, particularly in Germany and the US, we aim to continue developing sustainable and cost-effective cutting fluids using new molecules.”
The establishment of the Technology Center serves a primary objective of enhancing scientific research capabilities and promoting economic growth in India. By investing in best in class research and development, Callington aims to drive advancements in key industries, including aviation, metalworking, welding and metal treatment, industrial applications, fuel additives, and non-destructive testing. Through this technology center, Callington endeavors to develop innovative solutions that effectively address industry-specific challenges and contribute to overall progress.

Talking about the significance of the new Technology Centre, Sriram Iyengar shared, “The amount of knowledge and brain power available in India is among the highest in the world. This is one of the reasons why we chose India as a setting, as it serves as a stepping stone to expand our presence and portfolio across the group. The fact that IIT Madras is currently India’s premier engineering institution further reinforced our decision to set up a technology center within its premises. Over the last four months, as I closely interacted with the team at IIT Madras, I became increasingly convinced that we should establish a presence here for two reasons. First, they are considered the best in India today. Second, the infrastructure and the intellectual talent available here are unparalleled in India.”
The attendees of this event, including distributors and major customers, derived significant benefits from their participation. By extending invitations to these key stakeholders, Callington India aimed to promote a deeper level of trust and confidence in the company. Through the event, attendees also witnessed the commitment of Callington India to customize and develop products specifically tailored to the Indian market. The emphasis on products made in India further enhanced the trust placed in Callington’s capabilities, solidifying partnerships and fostering long-term collaborations with distributors and customers alike.
As Callington India continued to expand its footprint and strengthen its position in the Indian market, the inauguration of the Technology Center served as a remarkable example of the company’s dedication to innovation, research, and development. With a focus on scientific advancements and collaboration, Callington India aimed to drive economic growth while providing its customers with cutting-edge solutions tailored to their specific requirements.
