Bajel Projects Limited has secured its largest-ever transmission order, valued at approximately ₹1,500 crore, from Lakadia A Power Transmission Limited for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on a major power transmission project in Gujarat. The order comprises multiple Letters of Award (LOAs) for the development of a common transmission system to evacuate renewable power from Lakadia, Jam Khambhaliya and Jamnagar. The wider project covers Phase II of Lakadia, with 7.5 GW of capacity, Phase II of Jam Khambhaliya, with 5.5 GW, and Phase I of Jamnagar, with 1 GW.
The scope includes approximately 270 kilometres of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines between Halvad and Vadodara, along with additional work at the Halvad, Vadodara and South Olpad substations. The transmission infrastructure is intended to support the evacuation of nearly 14 GW of renewable power from Gujarat’s high-potential energy zones.
Lakadia A Power Transmission Limited is a special purpose vehicle transferred by PFC Consulting Limited to AnantGrid Projects One Private Limited (AGPOPL) for project development. AGPOPL is jointly owned by Bajel Projects, which holds a 26% stake, and the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), which owns 74%. The consortium won the tariff-based competitive bidding process for the project in August 2026.
Under Bajel Projects’ order classification policy, which includes GST, the contract qualifies as an ultra-mega order. Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO of Bajel Projects Limited, said the order reflects the company’s execution capabilities and technical expertise. He said the project also marks an important step in the company’s role as both an EPC contractor and a project developer, working with NIIF and AnantGrid to expand India’s transmission infrastructure. The project is expected to strengthen the national power transmission network and support the integration of large-scale renewable energy into the grid. It also aligns with India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030.
Bajel Projects provides EPC and manufacturing solutions across power transmission and new energy sectors. Formerly the EPC arm of Bajaj Electricals Limited, the company has a domestic and international presence and serves utilities and private infrastructure developers. The company said the order strengthens its position in India’s expanding transmission sector as new infrastructure is required to connect renewable generation capacity with demand centres.
