Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), through Dentic World, hosted its first Dental Hackathon on October 24 and 25 at the AMTZ campus in Visakhapatnam. The Dental Innovation Sprint 2026 brought together 15 startup teams to develop dental technology solutions with support from mentors, industry experts and ecosystem partners.

Organised by AMTZ and led by Dentic World in association with the MediValley Incubation Council (MVIC), the event was launched in the presence of Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ, and Krishna Sai Inkoolu, CEO of Dentic World.

The two-day programme aimed to help startups convert dental technology concepts into products suitable for clinical use and commercial development. Participants received support in product design, prototyping, manufacturing, regulatory guidance and clinical validation through AMTZ’s integrated medical technology infrastructure. The event also saw the signing of memoranda of understanding between Dentic World and selected startups, including Zensit Smart Products Pvt Ltd, Porta Dent and Voxel Bone.

Dr Jitendra Sharma said AMTZ provides access to laboratories, advanced instruments, design expertise and manufacturing technologies needed to develop medical products. He said Dentic World was established as India’s first dental technology accelerator to bring together innovators, startups, researchers, clinicians and industry partners and help move Indian dental technologies from concept to commercialisation.

The programme concluded on October 25 with mentoring sessions on product design and development, regulatory requirements and go-to-market strategy. An expert jury comprising Dr P Harikrishna, Satish Gokhale, Dr Steven, Dr Sundeep Seesala, Krishna Sai Inkoolu and Dr Kavitha evaluated the participating innovations.

Zensit Smart Products Private Limited was named the winning team of the Dental Innovation Sprint 2026 for its HealthTech and AgriTech entry. The team will receive support through AMTZ’s ecosystem, including access to research and development infrastructure, rapid prototyping, specialised testing and validation, incubation services and market access.

AMTZ said the initiative was intended to strengthen the development of locally designed dental technologies by connecting startups with facilities and expertise needed to develop, test and manufacture products. The hackathon brought together innovation, mentoring and manufacturing support in one programme, with the aim of helping dental technology startups advance product development and prepare solutions for wider adoption.

Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone is a medical technology manufacturing and innovation ecosystem based in Visakhapatnam. Through its facilities and initiatives, AMTZ supports medical technology research, product development, testing, manufacturing and commercialisation.
