LTM, a Larsen & Toubro Group company, has launched its BlueVerse™ Industrial AI Lab in Chennai to help enterprises develop, test and deploy artificial intelligence solutions across industrial operations and intelligent products. The facility will serve as a co-innovation centre where customers, LTM specialists and technology partners can work together to develop solutions and move projects from pilot stages to production. It is designed to address challenges faced by industrial facilities, including hazardous working conditions, limited connectivity, noisy environments and the continued use of legacy equipment.

The lab combines LTM’s industrial AI solutions, intellectual property, patents and manufacturing-focused small language models. It provides an environment to develop, simulate and validate applications for both new facilities and existing industrial sites before they are deployed.

Its capabilities include computer vision, smart edge devices, digital twins, industry-specific language models and industrial AI agents. These technologies can help improve sensing, interpretation and decision-making across industrial operations. A dedicated robotics and simulation area will support the development and virtual validation of autonomous mobile robots, collaborative robots and drones. Potential applications include inspection, material handling and other shop-floor activities.

The lab will also support embedded and device engineering for consumer electronics and medical technology. Teams will be able to develop and test hardware, embedded software and on-device AI, while assessing interoperability, reliability, performance, safety and relevant regulatory requirements.

Gururaj Deshpande, Chief Delivery Officer at LTM, said industrial businesses were looking for ways to shorten time to market, improve operational availability, strengthen worker safety and meet regulatory requirements. He said the lab would provide an environment to develop and scale industrial AI solutions with governance, security and safeguards built into the process.

The launch expands LTM’s work in artificial intelligence, product engineering and industrial innovation. The company brings together AI specialists, industry experts, technology partners and industrial AI start-ups to develop solutions for customers. According to LTM, its combined ecosystem has scaled more than 100 industrial AI solutions worldwide. The Chennai facility will allow clients and partners to collaborate on applications suited to their technical and operational requirements before wider implementation.

Industrial AI applications can combine data from equipment, sensors and software systems to support monitoring, analysis and decision-making. Through the new lab, LTM aims to help enterprises assess these applications in a controlled environment and prepare them for use in real operating conditions.
