Jindal Stainless’ Hisar manufacturing unit has received three awards recognising its work in energy transition, carbon emission reduction and sustainable manufacturing. The unit was recognised at the Economic Times Energy Transition Awards 2026, the BW Sustainable World Awards 2026 and the 4th Prithvi Awards 2026.

At the Economic Times Energy Transition Awards 2026, the Hisar unit received the ‘Energy Transition Award – Industries’ at a ceremony held at Hyatt Regency in New Delhi. It also won the BW Sustainable World Award 2026 in the ‘Climate Action & Carbon Neutrality Leadership’ category during the 9th Sustainable World Conclave in Mumbai.

The third recognition, the 4th Prithvi Awards 2026, was presented at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi by Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice, Government of India. The awards recognise the company’s initiatives in renewable energy adoption, energy efficiency, decarbonisation, waste heat recovery, recycling, responsible waste management and resource optimisation.

Jindal Stainless has introduced high-efficiency technologies, explored green hydrogen, increased the use of recycled materials and implemented Zero Waste to Landfill practices. These initiatives form part of its broader efforts to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of its operations.

Vijay Bindlish, Unit Head – Hisar, Jindal Stainless, said the awards reflected the collective efforts of employees and the company’s commitment to including sustainability in its manufacturing processes. He said the company was investing in renewable energy, energy-efficient technologies, circularity and emerging solutions such as green hydrogen to advance its decarbonisation plans.

During the financial year 2025–26, the Hisar unit reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 364,295 tonnes through its emission-reduction initiatives. It also achieved a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared with FY 2022–23 levels.

Renewable energy accounted for 58% of the unit’s total electricity consumption during FY 2025–26. These results reflect the company’s efforts to increase clean energy use and improve resource efficiency across its manufacturing operations. The recognitions add to Jindal Stainless’ ongoing sustainability efforts as the company works towards its long-term climate objectives. Its approach includes adopting cleaner technologies, improving energy performance, increasing material recovery and reducing waste.

Founded in 1970, Jindal Stainless is one of India’s leading stainless steel manufacturers. In FY 2025–26, the company reported an annual turnover of ₹42,955 crore and an annual melt capacity of 4.2 million tonnes. As of March 2026, it operated 16 stainless steel manufacturing and processing facilities in India and overseas, including Spain and Indonesia, with a worldwide network spanning 12 countries. Its Indian network included ten sales offices and six service centres.

The company manufactures stainless steel products such as slabs, blooms, coils, plates, sheets, precision strips, wire rods, rebars, blade steel and coin blanks. Its integrated operations support cost competitiveness and production efficiency. Jindal Stainless uses electric arc furnace technology, which enables the recycling of scrap steel without compromising product quality. The company continues to focus on operational improvements, responsible resource use and cleaner manufacturing practices as part of its contribution to India’s energy transition and sustainability goals.
