Aramex, a global logistics and transportation services provider, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GMR Airports Limited (GAL) to explore opportunities to strengthen its logistics infrastructure at GMR-operated airports in India. The proposed collaboration aims to improve the movement of international shipments and support businesses, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), engaged in import and export activities.
The MoU was signed at GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC) in Hyderabad. Under the agreement, the two companies will explore improvements to Aramex’s infrastructure at express cargo terminals across GMR-operated airports. Proposed facilities include dedicated truck docks, screening systems and designated operational space, subject to the terms of a definitive agreement.
The planned infrastructure is expected to support customs clearance for multiple international shipment products and improve cargo handling efficiency. The companies are also exploring a warehousing facility near an express cargo terminal, with dedicated access through an airside corridor.
GMR Airports will maintain the identified infrastructure under terms to be agreed in the definitive agreement. It may also facilitate introductions to relevant authorities and share technical expertise and operational experience as part of the collaboration. The companies are working towards developing the proposed infrastructure by March 2027. The initiative is intended to strengthen Aramex’s logistics capabilities through key international gateways and improve access to cross-border shipping services, particularly for businesses trading with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Amadou Diallo, Group CEO of Aramex, said the company’s investment in India extends beyond expanding its footprint to building the infrastructure and capabilities required to support international trade. He said the partnership with GMR Airports would help improve logistics services and provide businesses with more efficient access to global markets.
Veena Bhogaonkar, Managing Director of Aramex India, said the collaboration would strengthen the company’s operations at GMR-operated airports and support express and freight requirements for businesses, including MSMEs. Abbas Panju, Regional CEO for the GCC and Indian Subcontinent at Aramex, said India remained an important market for the company. He added that the partnership would help expand its logistics network and support businesses seeking to connect with international markets.
