Siemens has introduced the Sinumerik Machine Tool Robot (MTR), a new industrial robotics solution developed with Danobat to combine the precision and stability of machine tools with the flexibility of six-axis robots. The Sinumerik MTR is designed to expand the use of robotics in high-precision manufacturing applications. The technology is aimed at industries such as aerospace, e-mobility and energy, where machining operations require high levels of accuracy, repeatability and flexibility.
Danobat, an internationally active industrial consortium and new Siemens partner, will offer a range of MTR robots covering different payload and reach requirements. The portfolio includes a compact model capable of handling payloads of up to 220 kg with a reach of 2.6 metres. At the upper end, the range includes a model with a payload capacity of up to 520 kg and a reach of 3.6 metres.
The integration of Sinumerik MTR enables Danobat to combine its expertise in high-precision CNC robotics with Siemens’ control technology. The approach is intended to support manufacturing applications that require robots to deliver the stability and accuracy traditionally associated with machine tools while retaining the movement and adaptability of a six-axis robotic system.
For Danobat, the partnership with Siemens provides an opportunity to expand its high-precision robotics offering and address additional applications and market segments. The company plans to use the technology to strengthen its position in robotic solutions for demanding industrial environments.
The Sinumerik Machine Tool Robot will be demonstrated at major industrial trade shows. The technology will be presented at the JEC and EMO trade shows at both Danobat and Siemens booths, while it will also be showcased at the Siemens booth at Automatica.
The new system reflects the increasing integration of robotics and CNC technologies in industrial manufacturing. By combining robot-based movement with machine-tool-level control and precision, the Sinumerik MTR is designed to provide manufacturers with additional options for automating complex production processes.
The Sinumerik Machine Tool Robot is currently available in Europe and Asia. The collaboration between Siemens and Danobat brings together CNC technology and robotic manufacturing capabilities to address applications where conventional automation solutions may not provide the required combination of payload, reach, accuracy and flexibility.
