CIE Automotive India has received approval from the Mumbai Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for the merger of its wholly owned subsidiary, CIE Aluminium Casting India Limited, with the parent company. The merger will consolidate CIE Automotive India’s domestic aluminium die-casting operations within the parent company. The appointed date for the merger is April 1, 2026.

The restructuring is aimed at bringing the company’s aluminium casting business under a single operating structure and aligning its capabilities with changing requirements from automotive manufacturers. Vehicle manufacturers, particularly in the two-wheeler and passenger vehicle segments, are increasingly seeking lightweight aluminium assemblies that combine multiple components into complete systems. The shift is driven by the need to improve vehicle efficiency, reduce curb weight and support changing vehicle architectures.

CIE Automotive India said the integration will allow its domestic aluminium die-casting business to operate more closely with the parent company’s wider automotive component operations. The consolidated structure is expected to support the company’s engagement with vehicle manufacturers seeking integrated and lightweight aluminium solutions.

Aluminium die casting is used in a range of automotive applications where lower weight and component integration are important considerations. The technology enables manufacturers to produce complex components and assemblies while reducing the number of individual parts and associated manufacturing processes. With the merger, the aluminium casting operations previously housed in CIE Aluminium Casting India Limited will become part of CIE Automotive India. The consolidation will also simplify the company’s domestic corporate structure.

CIE Automotive India is part of the global CIE Automotive Group and supplies components and assemblies to vehicle manufacturers and other automotive customers. Its operations in India cover several automotive component technologies and serve customers across passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and two-wheelers.

The company’s Indian operations include manufacturing capabilities in areas such as aluminium casting, forging, machining and other automotive component technologies. Its portfolio includes components and assemblies used in different vehicle systems. The NCLT order provides the regulatory approval required for the merger, subject to the terms and conditions specified in the order and applicable legal requirements.

The consolidation comes as automotive manufacturers in India continue to focus on vehicle weight reduction, system integration and improved efficiency. Aluminium components are being adopted across vehicle platforms as manufacturers respond to changing fuel-efficiency requirements and the development of electric and hybrid vehicles. By bringing its aluminium die-casting subsidiary directly into the parent company, CIE Automotive India is consolidating its domestic operations while positioning the business to respond to the evolving requirements of automotive customers.
