L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited (LTSCT), a leading Indian fabless semiconductor company, and Tata Electronics, a major player in India’s electronics and semiconductor manufacturing sector, have announced a strategic partnership to expand indigenous manufacturing of advanced chip products in India for global customers.

The partnership will combine LTSCT’s fabless semiconductor design and engineering capabilities with Tata Electronics’ semiconductor foundry, packaging and testing capabilities. The companies will jointly explore chip fabrication and packaging opportunities for LTSCT’s existing and future products across Tata Electronics’ range of semiconductor process technologies and packaging solutions.

The collaboration will focus on developing indigenous design and manufacturing capabilities for next-generation semiconductor products serving automotive, industrial, communications, security and intelligent-edge applications. The companies will also explore chip design-to-fabrication optimisation to support efficient and scalable manufacturing.

“Semiconductor leadership will increasingly be defined not just by design breakthroughs but by the ability to industrialise those designs through advanced packaging and manufacturing. At LTSCT, we see this as India’s opportunity to move up the value chain. Our engagement with Tata Electronics is a decisive step in building those capabilities, ensuring that the next generation of semiconductor products can be designed in India and delivered to global markets with speed, reliability and scale,” said Dr Sandeep Kumar, Chief Executive, L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited.

Dr Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD, Tata Electronics, said, “Tata Electronics is establishing world-class semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India to provide trusted, high-quality solutions across the semiconductor value chain to our domestic and global customers. Our partnership with LTSCT is a significant step which will accelerate India’s vision of becoming a full-stack semiconductor nation, by combining L&T Semiconductor’s deep fabless design and engineering expertise with our capabilities across semiconductor manufacturing, packaging and testing.”

The partnership aligns with the Government of India’s vision of “Manufacture in India – for India and for the World” and supports the objectives of Semicon 2.0 in developing the domestic semiconductor ecosystem and increasing value addition within the country. The companies aim to advance packaging technologies, manufacturing excellence and quality systems while strengthening India’s capabilities across the semiconductor value chain.

LTSCT, a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, is a fabless semiconductor products company focused on designing and delivering smart devices for global customers. Its portfolio spans Power, Compute, Analog/Mixed Signal, IoT modules and RF products, serving automotive, industrial, energy, data centre and telecommunications markets. The company operates across the US, Europe, Japan and India, with offices in Austin, Munich, Tokyo, Bengaluru and Noida.
