Gain.Energy has launched Upstrima, an AI platform designed to help oil and gas companies automate engineering tasks and improve the speed of technical work. Upstrima combines AI agents, automated workflows, data processing and engineering expertise in a single platform. The system is designed specifically for the oil and gas industry and aims to help engineers use AI in day-to-day technical operations.

The platform includes a marketplace of ready-to-use AI agents covering a wide range of engineering applications. These include offset drilling analysis, stuck-pipe prevention, drilling dysfunction root-cause analysis, mechanical equipment failure analysis, end-of-well reporting, well integrity, procurement spend analysis and plug-and-abandonment activities.

The marketplace is also open to third-party developers. Companies can use existing AI agents or develop customised tools based on their own data, procedures and engineering requirements. A key feature of Upstrima is its ability to process large amounts of unstructured oil and gas data. The platform can identify and classify information based on its content and supports more than 50 commonly used file formats. These include scanned, typewritten and handwritten documents.

The system can also receive information from different industry data sources, including WITSML. Gain.Energy said this reduces the need for manual data preparation before engineering teams can use the information. Upstrima allows companies to build and train their own AI agents. Users can also request customised agents from Gain.Energy’s engineering and technology team.

The platform can connect multiple AI agents into automated AI workflows. This allows several technical tasks to be linked together rather than being handled separately. Gain.Energy said this capability can be used to automate processes of different levels of complexity.

According to the company, the use of specialised AI agents and workflows can reduce execution times by between 50% and 70%. The aim is to allow engineers to spend less time on repetitive technical work and more time on analysis and important engineering decisions.

Upstrima is offered as a subscription-based web application for oil and gas engineers and organisations. The company has positioned the platform as a way for businesses to introduce AI into existing engineering processes without having to build every application from the beginning.

Gain.Energy was established in the United States in January 2024 by Dr Vlad Karen Payrazyan. The company focuses on developing AI technologies for industrial applications, with particular expertise in petroleum engineering. The Gain.Energy team combines oil and gas engineering knowledge with software and AI development capabilities. Through Upstrima, the company aims to expand the use of specialised AI across engineering functions in the energy sector.
