Sundaram Clayton Limited (SCL), a leading manufacturer of engineered aluminium die-cast components for the automotive industry, has reported a strong revenue performance for the first quarter of FY27, supported by steady demand from domestic and international automotive markets. The company’s standalone revenue increased 19% year-on-year to ₹524.2 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with ₹442.1 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. EBITDA for the quarter stood at ₹66.5 crore, with an EBITDA margin of 12.7%, against ₹70.6 crore and a margin of 16.0% in the same period last year. The decline in profitability was primarily due to higher raw material prices, increased fuel costs and elevated logistics expenses.

The company said the Indian automotive industry remained resilient during the quarter, supported by stable economic conditions, continued infrastructure investments and healthy consumer demand. The commercial vehicle segment recorded steady growth, driven by infrastructure development, construction activity and replacement demand. Passenger vehicle sales also remained healthy, particularly in the SUV and hybrid vehicle segments, reflecting positive market sentiment.

Internationally, the North American truck market continued its gradual recovery during the quarter. Fleet replacement demand improved, order inflows strengthened and production schedules at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) increased. While retail demand remained below peak levels, stronger order books point to improving business conditions. However, higher interest rates, weaker freight activity and ongoing geopolitical and trade-related uncertainties continue to pose challenges in the near term.

The company noted that geopolitical developments in West Asia have resulted in volatility in commodity prices and logistics costs. Rising aluminium prices, higher energy expenses and increased freight rates have put pressure on manufacturing costs across the industry. Sundaram Clayton said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation while taking proactive measures to strengthen supply chain resilience, improve operational efficiency and ensure uninterrupted production.

Production across the company’s manufacturing facilities continues to increase in line with customer requirements, enabling it to meet rising demand and support the expected recovery in the North American truck market. The company remains focused on improving productivity, optimising costs and enhancing operational performance across all its plants.

During the quarter, Sundaram Clayton received the prestigious Q-Prime Gold Award from Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) in recognition of its consistent quality standards and supplier excellence. The company also strengthened its sustainability credentials by receiving the IGBC Platinum Rating for its TKP Green Building certification and the CII Silver Award for excellence in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) practices.

In the United States, the company continued to expand production of new product programmes across key vehicle platforms while strengthening relationships with major customers. Manufacturing operations are progressing steadily, supporting reliable deliveries and future business growth.

Looking ahead, Sundaram Clayton remains optimistic about market opportunities in both domestic and export markets. Backed by advanced manufacturing capabilities, a strong customer base and continued investments in innovation, lightweight technologies and sustainable manufacturing, the company is well positioned to support the evolving needs of the global automotive industry while delivering long-term value for customers and stakeholders.
