ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Limited (ZF CVCS India) has secured Electronic Stability Control (ESC) business nominations from three leading commercial vehicle manufacturers in India, strengthening its position in the country’s growing vehicle safety market. The contracts cover multiple truck platforms built on both 24V and 12V electrical architectures and support upcoming vehicle programmes that will comply with India’s new Electronic Stability Control regulations.
Production under the new contracts is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027. All ESC systems will be assembled and supplied from ZF CVCS India’s manufacturing facilities in India, supporting the company’s commitment to local production and the country’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
The announcement comes ahead of the implementation of the Automotive Industry Standards (AIS), under which Electronic Stability Control will become mandatory for trucks from October 1, 2027. As commercial vehicle manufacturers prepare their next generation of products to meet the new regulations, demand for advanced safety technologies is expected to rise significantly.
Electronic Stability Control is regarded as one of the most effective active safety technologies for commercial vehicles. The system helps drivers maintain control during difficult driving conditions by automatically applying braking and managing vehicle stability whenever there is a risk of rollover, skidding or jack-knifing. The technology is already mandatory in several global markets and its introduction in India is expected to improve road safety and reduce accidents involving heavy commercial vehicles.
ZF CVCS India’s ESCsmartâ„¢ system has been developed specifically for commercial vehicles and has already been deployed in more than 60,000 vehicles operating in Indian conditions. Backed by over two decades of global ESC expertise and more than three million systems supplied worldwide, the solution offers proven performance, reliability and safety.
Commenting on the development, Paramjit Singh Chadha, Managing Director, ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Ltd, said, “The Indian commercial vehicle industry is entering a new phase where advanced safety systems will become an essential part of every truck. These business nominations reflect the industry’s growing confidence in proven vehicle stability technologies. With our local engineering capabilities, manufacturing facilities and dedicated ESC validation infrastructure, we are well prepared to support customers as they transition to the new safety standards.”
Akash Passey, Non-Executive Chairman, ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Ltd and President, ZF Group India, said the latest orders reaffirm the company’s leadership in commercial vehicle safety solutions. He noted that the trust shown by leading vehicle manufacturers highlights ZF’s ability to deliver globally proven technologies supported by local manufacturing, engineering expertise and testing capabilities.
ZF continues to strengthen its presence in India by offering advanced mobility technologies that improve vehicle safety, efficiency and performance. With the upcoming ESC mandate, the company is well positioned to support commercial vehicle manufacturers in developing safer trucks while contributing to India’s goal of creating a more secure and reliable road transport ecosystem.
