Coretura, the software-defined vehicle (SDV) platform company jointly established by Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, has entered into a strategic engineering partnership with Accenture to accelerate the development of its next-generation software platform for trucks, buses and other medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. The collaboration is expected to support Coretura’s roadmap as it works towards introducing its first commercial products by the end of the decade.

The partnership combines Coretura’s vision of creating a common software foundation for commercial vehicles with Accenture’s expertise in software-defined vehicle engineering, electrical and electronic architecture, embedded software and automotive systems integration. Together, the companies aim to simplify software development across the commercial vehicle industry while enabling faster innovation and improved operational efficiency.

As commercial vehicles become increasingly software-driven, manufacturers are moving away from hardware-centric designs toward centralized software architectures capable of managing critical vehicle functions. Coretura was established to address this industry shift by developing a standardized software platform that can be reused across multiple vehicle generations, reducing development complexity while supporting vehicles that typically remain in service for more than 15 years.

Under the agreement, Accenture will work closely with Coretura’s engineering teams across software development, platform integration, testing, documentation and compliance activities. The collaboration is designed to expand engineering capacity while allowing Coretura to retain ownership of the platform architecture and long-term technology strategy.

The software platform under development will integrate advanced capabilities including embedded software, middleware, cybersecurity, hardware abstraction, application programming interface (API) management, functional safety and AI-enabled engineering tools. The platform is expected to create a common software environment that allows commercial vehicle manufacturers to reduce development costs, shorten product development cycles and simplify future software upgrades.

For fleet operators and vehicle owners, the platform is expected to support continuous over-the-air software updates, allowing vehicles to receive new features, performance improvements and safety enhancements throughout their operational lifespan without requiring extensive hardware modifications.

Alongside the engineering collaboration, Coretura continues to expand its internal capabilities by recruiting specialists in system architecture, cloud infrastructure, high-performance computing, cybersecurity, middleware and functional safety. The company currently employs more than 130 engineers representing over 15 countries, combining commercial vehicle expertise with modern software engineering practices.

Coretura is jointly owned by Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, with both companies supporting the initiative as part of their long-term strategy to advance software-defined commercial mobility. The partnership with Accenture marks another step toward building an open, scalable software ecosystem designed to serve the evolving needs of the global commercial vehicle industry while enabling smarter, safer and more connected transport solutions for the future.
